Insurance, fitness, permits, road tax and e-challans. Why they matter to us and how to chase each one.
A vehicle that can't legally run doesn't earn, and an uninsured vehicle that is damaged is a loss we carry. Compliance lapses are early and cheap to fix compared with a missed instalment.
| Item | EWS signal | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Insurance lapsed or lapsing within 15 days | C1, 12 points | Call; share the renewal link from our insurance partner; confirm the new policy number on the case |
| Fitness certificate expired | C2, 10 points | Ask when the vehicle will go to the testing centre; KB-008 for buses |
| Permit expiring within 30 days | C3, 8 points | Remind; offer a one-instalment rescheduling if cash is the problem |
| Road tax overdue | C4, 5 points | Remind; a vehicle stopped at a check-post loses days of work |
| Five or more unpaid e-challans | C5, 5 points | Ask the borrower to settle; repeated challans can lead to the vehicle being held |
If you can only chase one item, chase insurance. See KB-037 for what an uninsured accident cost us on one tipper fleet.
Put the new expiry date on the case once the borrower confirms it. The signal drops off when Vahan or the insurer updates, usually within a week.
