When collections may reschedule an instalment, who approves it, and how it is recorded.
Rescheduling moves one or two instalments to a later date without changing the rate or the total tenure by more than six months. Use it when the cause of the delay is known, temporary and outside the borrower's control: a failed monsoon, a project halt, a mining-lease suspension.
Anything beyond that, such as a lower instalment for the rest of the loan or a longer tenure, is a restructuring. It changes the account's classification and is approved by the credit committee only. See KB-025 for how restructured accounts are classified, and check the current RBI direction before proposing one.
Every rescheduling is recorded on the case with the reason, the new due date and the approver. The EWS keeps scoring the loan; a rescheduled instalment is not counted as a missed one.
