Promises to pay

Taking a promise

• One date, one amount, one mode of payment. "Next week" is not a date.
• Repeat it back to the borrower and send an SMS confirming it.
• Record it on the case the same day.

On the date

• Check the payment by noon. If it hasn't arrived, call the same afternoon. Ask what happened before asking for a new date.
• A broken promise raises R6 (10 points). Two broken promises in 30 days mean a field visit (KB-012).

Partial payments

Accept them and record them; a part payment is a sign of willingness. If the borrower paid less than 80% of the instalment due, the EWS raises R3 (8 points). Agree the date for the balance on the same call.
